Sadhwartha, the official publication of the Church of God in India, Central West Region, has been advancing the ministry of Christian literature for more than three decades.
The first issue of Sadhwartha was officially launched on 15 February 1993 at the Youth Centre, Chembur, in a meeting presided over by Rev. K. M. Thankachan, the then Overseer of the Central Region and the founder and patron of Sadhwartha.
The publication began with the motto, "Souls Through Words," reflecting its vision of reaching lives with the message of the Gospel through the written word. Sadhwartha is also recognized as the first Pentecostal publication from Mumbai, marking an important milestone in the history of Pentecostal literature in the city.
Rev. P. I. Abraham (Kanam Achan) served as the first Chief Editor, providing visionary leadership during the formative years of the publication.
In 1994, the Central Region was divided into two regions to facilitate greater missionary outreach and administrative expansion. Following this reorganization, Sadhwartha continued as the official publication of the Church of God in India, Central West Region.
Over the years, many dedicated overseers, chief editors, editorial board members, and contributors have faithfully carried forward the vision of Sadhwartha. Through their commitment and service, the publication has continued to proclaim the Gospel, strengthen believers, and encourage Christian writers.
Today, Sadhwartha remains committed to its founding vision of reaching "Souls Through Words," continuing to serve the Church and society with biblical truth, spiritual encouragement, and Christ-centered literature.
The historical information presented in this writing has been compiled with reference to the book North Indian Church of God History written by Pastor K. O. Stephen, a respected senior minister of the Church of God in India.
